How old does my player need to be to play?

Rohnert Park Cal Ripken offers programs for players with playing ages from 4 years to 12 years of age. Your player's playing age is their age as of May 01, 2023. What are the different divisions Cal Ripken offers? Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee, A, AA, AAA, & Majors70 divisions. Please refer to the Division Information section on our website (under the Parents menu) for more details on each level of play.

What days and times are games and practices? How many games/practices are there during the week?

  • Peewees - This division has one practice during the week and one on Saturday. Practices usually start at 4:30 PM due to the sun going down at 5:30 in early February. Practice times on Saturday will depend on the team. Once games start, practices end. Games start at 5:30 PM during the week, and game times will vary on Saturdays. Games and practices are 60 minutes.
  • Single A Rookies - Similar to Peewees, there is one practice during the week and one on the weekend. Practices usually start at 4:00 PM during the week and go for 90 minutes. Games start at 5:00 PM during the week. Some teams continue to have one practice during the week when games start. Practice and game times on Saturdays will vary. Games are scheduled to go for 90 minutes.
  • AA - Practices will start with one during the week and one on the weekend, and some teams will add a third practice during the week. Practices start at 4:00 PM due to the sun setting so early. Saturday practice times will vary. Games start at 5:00 PM during the week, and times will vary for Saturday games. Games are scheduled for 1 hour and 50 minutes.
  • AAA - Most teams will practice three days a week: twice during the week, and once on the weekend. Due to lights being available at the field this division plays on, practices start at 4:00 PM or 6:00 PM and go for 2 hours. Weekend practice times vary, and also go for two hours. Games start at 5:30 and are scheduled for 1 hour and 50 minutes.
  • Minors and Majors - Most teams will practice three days a week: twice during the week, and once on the weekend. Due to lights being available at the field this division plays on, practices start at 4:00 PM or 6:00 PM and go for 2 hours. Weekend practice times vary, and also go for two hours. Games start at 6:00 and are scheduled for 2 hours.

What equipment will my player need to play?

Players will need a baseball glove and molded cleats (no metal cleats are allowed). Coaches will have team bats and team helmets for players to use but players may wish to have their own bat and helmet.

Can I register my player from the TeamSideline app?

No. All registrations need to be done through the website, whether you do that on a computer or via an Internet browser on your phone. Register Here 

What are the next steps after we register?

We will communicate via email and our Facebook page about assessments that are held in mid- to late January. Players wanting to play AA or above (AA is when kid pitch starts) will need to assess. Within two weeks after assessments, teams will be formed and you will be notified of your player's team via the TeamSideline app and you will be contacted by your head coach. Practices will begin in early February, with games starting in mid-March. The schedule for practices and games will be posted on the TeamSideline app and on your team's website.
